HOLON – SAVOY CINEMA

The Savoy Cinema opened in 1967 in the Savoy Passage at the corner of Sokolov Street and Hankin Street in Holon. This cinema was characterized by modern standards for its time, which included, among other things, padded seats and air conditioning, and in today’s terms it could be defined as a “high-tech cinema”. However, the cinema was located in the basement of the passage that bore its name and was characterized by its unique and circular shape that resembled the lens of a cinema camera.

In 1992, the cinema was closed as part of a wave of closures of hundreds of cinemas throughout Israel that could not compete with the great cinemas that opened in the new malls.
