K.u.k. Soldaten Winter 1916- Karnische Alpen- FELDPOST 220
KINO
9 REAL PHOTOS – POSTCARDS (W/H approx. 14 x 9 cm) of Austro-Hungarian soldiers in the high mountains of the Carnic, or Julian Alps in the course of the battles on the Isonzo (according to the given field post number 220 these are parts of the 27th Mountain Brigade). The period of the photos is between 16.02.1916 and 03.05.1916, but where exactly this camp was located is not clear from the texts. The cards were written by Captain von Metz, who can be seen several times in the photo. The photos have been numbered, but No. 7 is missing. You can see: Shelter “Villa Metz” with the captain, camp + wire fences in the snow, snowy mountain landscape with soldiers, close-up of shelters with soldiers, officers’ mess with pictures of naked women on the wall, snowy mountain and forest with soldier, the large cinema building in a protected area between the rocks, camp building with a lot of laundry (laundry?) and the captain with a snow coat.
